In an effort to encourage professional development among its members, the Arizona Chamber  Executives (ACE) has awarded a Jack Camper Scholarship to San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce President, Tisha Castillo. The scholarship will be used by Castillo to attend the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Winter Institute for Organization Management in Tucson, January 3-7, 2012. The Scholarship is named after Jack Camper, who served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce for 33 years and is a well-known instructor on both Chamber and organization management.

San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce President Receives Jack Camper Scholarship From Arizona Chamber Executives“This is a wonderful opportunity for me to meet with Chamber Presidents from around the country and learn of the strategies and resources that will help drive the future development of the San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce,” Castillo said. “I thank the ACE for selecting me for the Jack Camper Scholarship and look forward to everything the Winter Institute will have to offer for our members.”

“The Winter Institute provides a well-rounded curriculum in all aspects of Chamber management – from law, to budgets, to marketing and events,” added U.S. Chamber of Commerce Western Regional Director, Dick Castner. “Mrs. Castillo will be able to work closely with Chamber executives from all over the country, learn from their experiences and create a great network of contacts to draw from in the future.”

The Winter Institute is an adult education and professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for those in the association, chamber of commerce, and other related nonprofit industries. Since 1921, the Institute has educated hundreds of thousands of past, current, and future nonprofit leaders from across the country, making it one of oldest and best regarded adult education programs in nonprofit management. The Institute program was designed to enhance individual performance, elevate professional standards, and recognize association, chamber of commerce, and other nonprofit professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of nonprofit management. While onsite, Castillo will participate in 24 hours of course instruction and engage in lively discussions on a multitude of matters affecting the association and chamber industries. With courses on topics such as advocacy, media training, membership, finance, legal issues, human resources, and much more, the Institute ultimately educates participants on all facets of running a nonprofit organization.
